Fitting Finale in the Cage
Despite the end of an era for Indoor Track and Field, Case Memorial Cage will continue to serve as a multipurpose space for athletes and events.
“There’s been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears shed here,” added coach Lou Bernieri, before taking his place at the edge of the shot put circle, where, just a few short minutes later, Noah Ward ’17 threw a record 63 feet to make Andover athletic history. Ward—who also holds the school record in discus—accomplished this feat despite an injury earlier in the season.
Steve Snyder ’56 (alongside his son, Barron ’83) was on hand to witness the historic win. An accomplished runner in his own right—his record in the 40-yard dash remains unbroken—Snyder is the lead donor for Andover’s newest athletic facility. (Photos by Jessie Wallner)
