Art 500: Sanctuary Installation
Thanks to ten budding artists, the Cochran Bird Sanctuary offered some otherworldly wonders to early leaf peepers, curious art seekers and its resident creatures last Sunday afternoon. For the devoted dwellers who know each trail, turn, tree and vista, the Art 500 installation exhibition introduced fresh vantages of the woodland.
A string labyrinth forged new paths through a clearing. A suspended window framed a patch of brush with colored panes. Elfin stairways curled up twin trees, past miniature doors with button knobs.
And just as art is for art’s sake, so the students’ directive: an installation for its own sake, the meaning not the matter.
