Artistic Territories: Journeys in Place and Time
The Addison Gallery of American Art presents Artistic Territories: Journeys in Place and Time, on view from May 25 through July 31, 2016. The exhibition, curated by students in the Phillips Academy class Visual Culture: Discovering the Addison Collection, explores how artists have documented place, conveyed the nuances of space, and extracted meaning from their surroundings. Including 32 works from the museum’s permanent collection, many rarely or never before displayed, Artistic Territories shows how traveling artists interpret what they see through the lens of their experiences, in representations of subjects ranging from natural landscapes to social interactions.
