Andover and the Military
Andover’s military genealogy dates to the Academy’s founding in the midst of the American Revolution. This photo essay is but a very brief introduction to a long and inspiring history of service and sacrifice in the true non sibi spirit of our school. The essay is taken from a speech delivered by David Chase at Andover's Veterans Day 2011 Memorial Dinner, which was attended by students, faculty, staff and alumni. The evening celebrated the service of Andover's veterans and complemented the release of Andover magazine's WWII commemorative issue, as well as the launch of PA's military affinity group website and Facebook page. U.S. Navy Lt. Justin P. Accomando '99 and U.S. Navy Capt. and Medal of Honor recipient Thomas J. Hudner '43 each addressed the guests, both men reflecting upon their time at Andover and their service to the United States.Read More
