Pruning the Great Elm
PA's facilities folks take advantage of winter break to do some weight reduction pruning to the campus's most iconic tree. Planted between 1720 and 1740, the Great Elm is one of the oldest elm trees in the country. The pruning helps reduce the risk that large limbs will fracture and fall, causing irreparable harm to the structure and appearance of the tree. (Photos by Stephen Porter)Read More
